• Oracle Database (known as Oracle) is the first RDBMS marketed in 1979.

• It occupies the first place in the RDBMS market (with IBM ).

• product developments:

  • since version 7, client-server architecture;

  • since version 8, the server is object-relational;

  • since version 8i, integration of web and multimedia application layers;

  • since version 9i, integration of XML data types, extension of web layers and introduction of datawarehousing and business intelligence functions.

• Current version (since 2013): 12

• It works under Unix, Linux , Windows.

• It is possible to download the Oracle server for free for development purposes (payment is made at production).

• The Oracle IDE is the Oracle SQL Developer client. It is developed in Java, cross-platform and free.
